Mercedes-Benz keys are not like your typical Ford or Chevy keys. They have a computer chip inside of them that needs to be programmed for the key to start your car.
So, if you lose your Mercedes-Benz key, it’s not as simple as just getting a new key cut. Also, not every automotive locksmith in Dallas knows and is equipped to execute a car key programming for Mercedes vehicles.
A professional automotive locksmith service will have a collection of special equipment to program a new key. At Meyer’s mobile service, we have the special programming tools, software, and experience needed to quickly get you back on the road with new car keys.
The Mercedes diagnostic system is particular and limits licensed locksmiths in Dallas, Texas, and other states to make a replacement key for models over 2016. An advanced locksmith programmer will soon be available for 2016 and above.

Get to Know the Key Model You Have
Mercedes-Benz has two types of car keys; A smart key and a chrome key. It’s essential for you to know which kind of key you have if you ever need a car key replacement or if you need a new battery.
The older models have a black fob with three buttons. The center button has a picture of a car’s symbol on it, and this is your panic button in case you ever get locked out of your car or need to find it in a crowded parking lot.
If you press and hold this button, your car’s headlights will blink, and the horn will honk until you release the button. The other two buttons are used to unlock and lock your doors. If you press the unlock button for a few seconds, all the windows will roll down.
The newer models have a chrome key with a black fob with only two buttons. The button on the left is used to unlock your doors, and the button on the right is used to lock your doors.
If you press the lock button, the panic button will activate, your car’s headlights will blink, and the horn will honk until you release the button.

What Customers Ask Our Locksmith Company
How much will a new Mercedes-Benz key cost?
The cost to get a new car key depends on the complexity, year, and model. A typical Mercedes key replacement starts at $300 and can be as high as $650.
Why is a Mercedes car key so expensive?
Mercedes-Benz keys are more expensive to make because the programing service requires sophisticated soldering and other computer key programming that you won’t see in a Toyota or Jeep.
Can a locksmith make a key for a Mercedes?
Yes, but not every locksmith. Only a qualified automotive locksmith has the necessary equipment and training to make a key for your specific vehicle.
Can I replace my Mercedes key fob?
Yes, but not over the phone or online. You will have to call the dealership or a locksmith in Dallas, TX, for these services.
Can I program a Mercedes key fob myself?
No, you need special tools and software to program a car key. We recommend calling our automotive locksmith near you for these services.
Can you rekey Mercedes door locks?
No, you cannot rekey Mercedes door locks for security reasons. We can replace the existing lock with a new one, however. Rekeying services are more common in residential and commercial locks.
Can you repair a car key, or do I need a car key replacement?
It depends on the damage. If the key is just scratched, then a repair may be possible. However, a replacement key is likely necessary if your current key is bent or broken.
